About the Client
Wibbi (ex-Physiotec) is a Canadian company specializing in the creation of rehabilitation exercise instructions for physiotherapists worldwide. Its library includes over 75,000 exercises across more than 20 specialties, such as orthopedics, pediatrics, geriatrics, speech therapy, pelvic floor therapy, aqua therapy, pilates, conditioning, and more, including exercises designed for animals.
A Home Exercise Program (HEP) is a critical component of rehabilitation for many conditions. However, for an HEP to be effective, patients must clearly understand how to perform each exercise correctly. Traditionally, therapists spend significant time explaining exercises individually to every patient.
Wibbi set out to solve this challenge by creating a digital system for building, managing, and delivering personalized Home Exercise Programs.
CHALLENGE
Needed to upgrade software for physical therapy
When Wibbi approached Greenice, they already had a vast and valuable exercise database. However, their existing software required significant improvements to support modern HEP workflows.
Each patient case is unique, meaning therapists must create fully personalized exercise programs that are easy to understand and follow without supervision. In addition, both therapists and patients needed a way to track exercise completion and progress over time.
Without dedicated, well-designed HEP software, these tasks were time-consuming, difficult to scale, and prone to miscommunication.
SOLUTION
We helped develop a comprehensive HEP management system that enables physical therapists to efficiently create personalized exercise programs, deliver them to patients in multiple formats, and track progress over time.
The solution allows therapists to:
- Compile HEPs from a large exercise database
- Send programs to patients via email
- Print programs in multiple formats
- Set expiration dates for online programs
- Use and customize HEP templates
- Add videos and images to instructions
- Personalize exercise descriptions
- Integrate with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems
- Deliver instructions in the patient’s preferred language
Wibbi already had an extensive exercise library when the project began. Our role was to enhance discoverability, usability, and scalability by optimizing search and introducing new operational features.

Exercise Loader
Wibbi continuously expands its exercise database by adding new photos, videos, and descriptions. Managing this growing content library efficiently was a key operational requirement.
We developed a dedicated Exercise Loader tool that allows administrators to:
- Upload exercise videos and images
- Add structured instructions and keywords
- Translate content into multiple languages
Therapists can also create their own exercises, edit existing ones, and save them as templates for personal use or sharing within their clinic.
Search Optimization
Previously, finding the right exercise among more than 75,000 entries was difficult and time-consuming. The existing search functionality lacked precision and flexibility.
We redesigned the search system using Elasticsearch, enabling advanced indexing and filtering. The new search logic links structured exercise criteria directly to search queries while respecting user access permissions.
Key search features include:
- Keyword and phrase search
- Synonym support
- Auto-suggestions and keyword highlighting
- Replacement-based search
- Category filtering (e.g., Orthopedics)
- Filtering by body part, movement, objective, and position
- Language-based search
Integration with third-party EMRs/EHRs
Many clinics rely on Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems as part of their daily workflow.
To ensure seamless integration, we connected Wibbi with more than 25 EMR, EHR, and clinic management systems via secure APIs. This allows therapists to save and retrieve HEPs directly within patient records.
The integration eliminates duplicate data entry and ensures consistency across systems.
Templates for Printing HEPs
We added the ability to export HEPs in PDF and HTML formats. Therapists can choose from a set of ready-made templates or create custom layouts tailored to their clinic’s needs.
This feature saves time for healthcare professionals and provides patients with clear, easy-to-follow instructions in a familiar format.
HEP Tracker for Patients
To help therapists monitor adherence and outcomes, we implemented interactive tracking sheets for patients.
Patients can log:
- Exercise duration
- Difficulty level
- Pain levels
Progress data is automatically compiled into clear reports that can be reviewed by both therapists and patients, supporting better communication and treatment outcomes.
